I just found the cute blog Newly Wife. Thanks Lola! And they're having a giveaway. I've never entered one, so I figured I try it out. Besides, I've been thinking about a garden. It would sure save money. And Laney and I could have some yummy food. I just need to figure out how to start one without messing up the yard. You know, living on the base, there are a lot of rules. I'm thinking we're probably going to have a container garden.
But Newly Wife is giving away all these wonderful. For your chance to win, enter here. And just look at this necklace I miss out on. I LOVE it! I wonder if Jessica stock's them in her Etsy Shop.

Eww!
Let me start off. I wasn't sure if I should blog about this or not. But seeing how "Hoarders" has turned into a favorite show of many, I thought I'd share.
We live on a military base. And with that, there are a crapload of rules. Some of the houses, are less than desired. And some of your neighbors...well, I'm not even going to go there. But I've been lucky enough to find a group of really sweet woman on post. We try and meet up 2 times a week for playdates. We all have small kids.
Everyone takes turns "hosting" the playdates. Even if we just meet at the park. Someone always brings snacks for the group. I'st just a nice little group that we have going on. No stress, just other women that understand what you're going through. Especially because most of our husbands are deployed together.
Today, our playdate hit a snag. Almost everyone was sick. It's like the flu bug hit all the kids at once. Except for Laney, a good friend of mine and her kids, and another friend and her sons. I would have had everyone over to my house, but there were some workmen fixing the floors. We've lived here for years, and they finally came to fix the floors. Which were broken when we moved in. My friend was having her AC worked on. So it left our 3rd friend.
She was all excited and told us to come right over. She had never "hosted" anything at here house. I was bringing snacks, it was my day. And Laney was just happy to get to walk over, instead of having to drive. When we got there, my good friend was sitting there with this grossed out expression. I had no clue...
I went into the house, and I gave the food to our "host." And I sat down next to my good friend. The weather has been kind of "rough" to say the least. So we were inside. Laney went to go play with the kids. *Note: My friend had her kids real close to her. So Laney wasn't too far either.
All of a sudden, something flew by. I about had a heart attack. I didn't know what to do. I swear, my heart stopped! My friend grabbed for my hand and I knew we were in trouble. I saw what it was. It was a flying roach. What? They fly? I never knew that!
*Note I tried to find the cutest roach picture I could. That way I won't have nightmares tonight. But I'm not sure it's going to help.
My friend whispers to me that we need to get out of there. You think? She had only been there 5 minutes and had seen at least 20 of them. Flying around. What to do? We quickly texted another friend. This all happened in less than 5 minutes. Our host was in the kitchen getting plates together.
As our hosts walks back in, my phone rings. I play along. "Oh, OK. So you need me to go back and sign some papers. I'm down the road. But I guess. If I have too. Oh ya, she's here to. Ya, she lives next door to me. OK. We'll be there in about 10 minutes."
We excused ourselves. Collected our kids and almost ran for the door. What the heck was that? OK, we live in the SW. And from time to time you get weird bugs, scorpions, lizards, and an occasional snake in or around your house. In fact, the neighbors across the street, they had a mouse problem, after work was started on the house behind them. So these houses are not the best. But there also not the worst.
If you clean, you don't creepy crawlers. I was just so grossed out! I really never knew that roaches could fly. Here I thought they were scared of you. Because I know I'm scared of them! After heavy rains, we always spray so that we don't get bugs. The day after a big rain around here, you will find dead roaches out on the sidewalks. But it's not like 100s of them. Just a few.
But that was too much for me. When my friend and I got back to my house, I told her that I would never go back there again. Ever! And that I just can't eat anything that she brings for snack. We haven't told anyone else. How do you do that? Is it OK that we feel like this?
I swear, I can still see those crazy bugs flying all over. And she is a clean woman when you see her. Her kids, herself, their car...all are clean. But their house...well, I won't be going back. I feel kind of bad. But I just can't bring myself to going back. What would you do?

Missing Daddy
I've been a bad blogger. I all but abandoned my blog. My husband joked with me the last time we talked. So I'm going to try and do better.
Do you see this picture? Yesterday when Laney woke up from her nap, she was missing her daddy. It was something fierce! So I got one of his tshirts out, and one of the videos he made her. She wrapped herself in the tshirt and she got so excited to see her daddy on tv. My girl was so excited! I'm glad that we made all those tapes before he was deployed.
Laney kept running to the tv and kissing her daddy. She was talking to him. My girl was so excited! And it made me cry. Being a military family, you live on the brink all the time! You just never know what's going to happen. You know, I stress out that my husband's going to get hurt. But you just never know.
After the video ended. And my hubby had "read" Laney her favorite book. She was all better! But she wanted to make her daddy something. We try to send him a few letters and pictures every week. And every couple of weeks we send him a care package. I know he enjoys them. And I just want him to know that we love him and think of him every single day!
I found this picture. I don't know where. I just did a google search for a picture, for Laney to color. I wish I would have scanned it before I put it in the envelope. It was so cute! I'm sure my hubby is going to love it. Just because his little "daddy's girl" made for him.
